Off the Beaten Trail

Day 1

Start your day in the community of Seneca Falls with a visit to the Seneca Falls Museum of Waterways and Industry to experience Seneca Falls’ unique industrial reform and cultural heritage as well as the rise of industry powered by the Seneca River via the Cayuga-Seneca Canal and the Erie Canal. Walk to the Wesleyan Chapel Site, where the first Women’s Rights convention was held in 1848. For more information on the Women’s Rights Convention, be sure to stop by the Women’s Right Historical Park not far from the Chapel. The park personnel will give you a guided tour of the home of Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Then experience the achievements of American Women at the National Women’s Hall of Fame. Lunch at one of the local restaurants, shop along the quaint shops in downtown, or picnic and take in the sites along the Cayuga-Seneca Canal. Take a boat ride along the Erie Canal and/or visit Historic Waterloo, the birthplace of Memorial Day. Visit museums and antique shops while in the friendly village. Head south to the Village of Interlaken for a visit to Lively Run Dairy, where you can join the fun on the farm. Join a cheese making demonstration, goat milking demonstration, bottle feeding, and lots of other hands on experiences that will leave a lasting memory with your group! Before departing Interlaken, experience the Crystal Lake Cafe at Americana Winery for a wine tasting followed by lunch at a delicious bistro. Or return to Seneca Falls and enjoy dinner and a stay at the historic Gould Hotel.

Day 2

Relax and enjoy the great outdoors at one of our many State Parks. Hike through the Finger Lakes National Forest and also visit the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge. If you’re looking for the “Grand Canyon of the East” make a trip northwest to Letchworth State Park, ranked #1 State Park in the Nation by USA Today with Watkins Glen State Park being ranked #3, and explore the surrounding community of Geneseo. Visit Historic Palmyra where your days will be filled with rich history, shopping galore, and the perfect accommodation to rest your head at night. Visit the various wineries along the Cayuga Wine Trail and Seneca Lake Wine Trail to find world class wines for any palate. Tour vineyards, cellars, and winemaking facilities to learn about the total vine to bottle process. Enjoy the feeling that there’s ‘something in the water’ with Finger Lakes hospitality, while you lunch or dine at one of the wineries. Rest your head at group friendly accommodations that will have you sleeping like a baby for the next day’s adventure. The adventurous may extend their stay and enjoy a close up look at the picturesque countryside. Biking and hiking trails offer the flexibility of endurance for the avid adventurer or the slower pace for the beginner. It also offers other activities for the family!
