The Palmyra Historical Museum houses 23 themed rooms that feature Palmyra's history, a treasure trove of days gone by. Visit the Military rooms, the famous doll rooms and more. The Erie Canal Depot has stalls located in the basement for the mules to rest. View the three amazing dioramas and "get tyed up" in our interactive know tieing station.The Palmyra Print Shop, address's the importance of printing to Palmyra's history and John M. Jones contribution. The Wm. Phelps General Store and Residence, "where time stands still," served as a boarding house, tavern, bakery, general store, and family residence. At the closing of the general store in 1940, it was subsequently left untouched, leaving a curious retail time capsule for you and your family to explore. Upstairs you’ll visit the elegant Phelps’ family home with post-Civil War furnishings and Victorian splendor, unspoiled by electricity or indoor plumbing, where Sibyl Phelps resided until her passing in 1976. The Alling Coverlet Museum and Gift Shop houses the largest handwoven American coverlet collection in the world and is an important stop for any textile enthusiast or curious visitor alike. Come and visit our newly renovated second floor to see Coverlets, looms and a quilt room.
