The Inn is named after Belva Lockwood, a notable suffragist who was the principal of a women's seminary that was on the property in the 1800’s. Belva Lockwood would go on to earn her law degree and become the first female lawyer to argue in front of the U.S. Supreme Court. She wast he first woman to run for president of the U.S. in 1884 and again in 1888, decades before women could even vote. She spent her life advocating for equal rights for all.

After learning about the historic inn and relaxing, enjoy a stroll to the Historic Owego Marketplace just a short block away with numerous antique shops, specialty vendors, restaurants, breweries and a historic movie theater.

 "If you ever wanted to live in a real life hallmark movie, this is your place! To describe every highlight of our visit at this beautifully renovated historic home would fill a novel. The place is a perfect blend of old history and fresh updates. Vintage architecture and antique furnishings are balanced with just a touch of modern design and color (much from local artists). A Front porch rocking chair nestled in fall holiday florals and decor was the perfect spot for morning coffee with a river front view. Every detail is attended to. There is much to do around the Owego area - shops downtown are easy walking distance. Wineries, hiking and orchards and other attractions are easily drivable.
