Join us in celebrating the inaugural spotlight exhibition for 2022,  Astonishing Brilliance: Art, Light and the Transformation of American Culture. At the end of the 1800s, the introduction of artificial lighting was as profound as digital technology is today. Developments in artificial lighting affected how Americans perceived color, depth and brightness. This exhibition features paintings, works on paper and decorative objects from the Munson Williams Proctor Museum of Utica, NY.

School's Out, Art's In! | Mosaic Bean Designs with Artist Becky McNeill

Included with Museum admission | No registration required | Location: KIDS ROCKWELL Art Lab 

Create your own mosaic inspired by beads, created from beans. Find ideas in The Rockwell’s collection of beaded artworks including clothing, shoes, bags, belts and boxes. If you do not feel comfortable visiting the Art Lab in-person there will be to-go project kits available for pick-up, free of charge.

Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Brian Frey joins Rob Cassetti for a conversation on the impact of Hurricane Agnes in 1972. This hour-long presentation will be moderated by Rockwell staff, features clips of Frey’s film, and includes an opportunity for audience Q&A.

Our beloved music series goes online! Livestream from the comfort of your couch and join us for a social evening with The Wildmans. The Wildmans come from the hills of Floyd, Virginia, in the heart of the Appalachian mountain music tradition.
Silver Dollar Society and Members with the Ambassador Enhancement are invited to join us in The Rockwell galleries. Space is limited!

Children’s Librarian Sue McConnell will read beloved stories thematically linked to The Rockwell’s art collection. After, explore and socialize with games and activities, connecting little ones to authentic arts experiences through storytime and un-plugged play.

Attendees are invited to explore the KIDS ROCKWELL Art Lab and The Rockwell Museum after Story Hour for free or enjoy at-home activities on Museum From Home.

Christina Muscatello, Program Director of the Memory Maker Project, visits The Rockwell Museum to broadcast programs live from our galleries! This month, Christina will explore Astonishing Brilliance, The Rockwell’s spotlight exhibition about the introduction of electric light and its influence on art and American culture.

An Evening with Dr. Krewasky Salter: Buffalo Soldiers and the African American Experience in the U.S. Army

The Southeast Steuben County Library and The Rockwell Museum invite you to an evening with Dr. Krewasky Salter as he presents and answers questions on the history of the Buffalo Soldiers amid the larger context of the African American experience in the military. This program is made possible by a grant in memory of Keith Vaughan.
