Holiday Windows in Corning's Gaffer District Inspire Shopping Local

Dec 05th, 2016

Nearly 50 businesses with Corning’s Gaffer District are all “decked” out for the holidays. These festive holiday windows are meant to engage the customer and encourage them to step inside to see more, with the hope of continuing to inspire shoppers to spend their dollars locally.

As part of the Corning’s Gaffer District Visual Design Program, participating business owners receive help with storefront window decorating as a free service.  For the holidays the Visual Design team incorporates merchant’s product with lights, holiday props, and decor. This service is offered to businesses within Corning’s Gaffer District throughout the year, featuring 5 changeouts highlighting the seasons.

Shop Small signage accompanies each window display treatment to encourage shoppers to support small businesses. The holiday windows are especially important for Small Business Saturday and holiday shopping.

Meghan Tuazon O’Toole, Visual Design Manager says, “We’re inspired by the newest trends in window display treatments. This year’s windows feature silver, champagne and gold tones because these colors highlight product and really reflect the lights.”

Jill Agosta, Store Manager, Connors Mercantile and Pure Design stated, "This holiday season we are so pleased with our holiday windows that gleam with silver and gold. Inspiring customers to come in and shop. We are so thankful to Meghan and her team, they bring such a warm holiday feeling to the street of shops. Happy Holidays to all!"

Sarah Files, Owner of Pip's Boutique shared, "We LOVE our window design that the Gaffer District provides! Every year we end up loving our Holiday windows more than the last year! This year, they've really outdone themselves, with all the sparkle, glitz, and party feel that you want in a window! We have gotten SO many compliments, and it really does draw in people to our store. Just this past weekend, we've had more than a handful of people in that have never been in our store, just because they saw our windows."
