Swedish Hill has been making premium wines in the Finger Lakes for over 30 years. They are adding Donkey Kick Hard Cider to their offerings available in 4 flavors: Jacked Apple, Dry Rosé, Ain’t No Mule (Ginger Lemon), and Blackberry Blast. All of the new ciders will be available in single serve 12 ounce bottles as well as in 4 packs and 24 bottle cases. The Donkey Kick brand is inspired by the winery’s famous pet Doobie the donkey.
The 4 Donkey Kick Ciders will be released at Swedish Hill’s Annual Jack Ass Day, Saturday, August 11. This event is the annual celebration of Doobie’s birthday, and will include live music by City Limits, food by Big Boys, a cornhole tournament, watermelon eating contest, and other fun activities. Wine slushies, wines by the glass or bottle and of course the Donkey Kick Ciders will be available for purchase.
“Adding hard cider to our products just made sense to us,” remarked Swedish Hill co-owner David Peterson. “Upstate New York is known for producing very high quality apples as well as wine grapes, and with the popularity of hard ciders booming, we decided that it was time to get in the hard cider business. It is also a natural extension of our winemaking and the expertise and experience of our winemaking staff allowed us to create an outstanding quality product right off the bat.”
Donkey Kick Cider will initially just be available at the winery, but Peterson expects that we will begin selling through some additional outlets in the coming months.
