In collaboration with the Corning-Painted Post High School, The Rockwell Museum presents this special exhibit of four students of the International Baccalaureate Visual Arts Diploma Programme. Under the direction of art teachers Lisa Rossi-Sullivan and Shari Holland, students Olivia Marchionda, Samantha Hollasch, Erin Shaut and Amy Allen, of the Corning Painted-Post Area School District.
A student reception will be held on Friday, April 20 from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. at The Rockwell, with opening remarks to begin at 3:45 p.m. The exhibit will stay on view through May 7.
As part of the program, students visited museums including The Rockwell to study and draw inspiration from the collection for their own works of art. In addition, students kept a detailed journal to record their research for projects and to write, develop and sketch their ideas. Finally, students curated and installed this exhibit, giving them a broader sense of the many facets of the professional art world.
The IB Diploma Programme supports the notion that art is an integral part of everyday life, permeating all levels of human creativity, expression, communication and understanding. It is a thought provoking course that encourages students to challenge their own creative and cultural expectations and boundaries.
