Fairport, NY - Casa Larga Vineyards will release their newest wine to the public this Thursday in their Wine Shop. The Chard-Riesling is a blend of Chardonnay and Riesling grapes - varietals that have special meaning to the winery. Chardonnay is the favorite of Casa Larga's founders, Mrs. C and her husband, the late Andrew Colaruotolo. Riesling was the very first vinifera planted at the vineyards' start in 1978. "This wine blends not only our favorite varietals, but also our two greatest passions: growing and drinking Chardonnay and Riesling." says Andrea Colaruotolo-O'Neill, Director of Marketing at Casa Larga Vineyards. "This blend is a new idea and we are eager to share it with Rochester's wine drinkers." Combining Chardonnay and Riesling has created a medium-dry, fruit-forward wine with hints of citrus and green apple. The new wine comes just in time for the start of spring weather in the Finger Lakes, as it is very refreshing and the fruits bring out the flavors of spring. The wine pairs well with light foods like cioppino, mussels, light grilled meats, pasta primavera or four cheese pizza - some of the Colaruotolo family's favorite foods. The new wine was available in a special pre-release to the winery's Wine Lover Club, but on Thursday will have its official launch. The winery will open up the tasting and purchase of the new Chard-Riesling wine at a release event this Thursday, April 18. From 4:00-7:00 pm, people can visit the winery to purchase and taste the new wine paired with local cheese samples. Tastings of the new wine are complimentary and bottles are $12.99 each. The launch of the new wine coincides with the Wine Therapy Nights, this week featuring Origami Owl custom jewelry and the Jane Iredale line of make-up with Enza Salon. The new wine will also be featured over the weekend during the Lake Ontario Wine Trail's "Roll Out The Barrel" event on Saturday and Sunday where guests will also have a chance to talk with the winemaker, Matt Cassavaugh, and sample other wines that have not yet been released.
