42ND STREET Opens in Two Weeks! Meet the Cast!

42nd Street is the musical comedy that celebrates Broadway and the magic of show business! Featuring 14 show stopping production numbers including, “We’re In The Money,” “Lullaby of Broadway,” “42nd Street,” “Quarter to Nine,” 50 tapping feet and over 200 jaw dropping costumes, this show delivers on every level. Aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer comes to the big city from Allentown PA, and soon lands her first big job in the ensemble of a glitzy new Broadway show. But when its star is injured, will Peggy be able to step in and save the show? An exhilarating celebration of the American song and dance musical.

CAST

Wesley J. Barnes* (Andy Lee) is a Los Angeles Native who started his career at a young age as a member of the Kennedy Tap Company, performing at countless events such as the PBS Annual Holiday Special, NAACP Image Awards, Michael Jackson’s 45th Birthday, The Jerry Lewis Telethon, tours and more. After graduating college at Concordia University Irvine with a degree in theatre performance and communications studies, he moved to New York City and began working as a musical theater performer. He has been blessed to work with Broadway greats like Andre DeSheilds, Graciella Daniell, Carolee Carmello, Andrea Burns, and more. Favorite credits include, the 50th Anniversary National Tour of Jesus Christ SuperstarNewsies, Godspell, The Scottsboro Boys, and Hairspray. Rev Credits: Mama Mia, Grand Hotel, and 2020’s Concert. When not performing, Wesley loves pouring into other performers and helping them be the best they can be by providing a safe space to discover their full potential. Teaching everything from college level to elementary level, teaching/coaching brings him just as much joy as being on stage. Wesley is currently accepting students for virtual sessions in all areas. Sierra Lai Barnett (Ensemble) is a proud first-generation Chinese-American from Ohio, who can’t resist a smile – or a good homemade dumpling! She entered the professional world with degrees in dance and business management from Point Park University. Most recently, she collaborated with the New York City-based director and choreographer, Jim Cooney. Her favorite projects include roles as a performer, dance captain, associate director, and associate choreographer. While waiting for the pandemic to lift, she has danced as much as possible while also growing her skills as a singer. Blake Brewer (Ensemble) is a recent graduate from Syracuse University’s Musical Theatre program, hailing from Los Angeles, California. Regionally, Blake has been seen in Beauty and the Beast, Legally Blonde, Mamma Mia!, and The Drowsy Chaperone. Many thanks to God, RA Entertainment, and his family for their never-ending support. Christopher Carl* (Julian Marsh) Christopher is so honored to be part of the REV’s opening production, post COVID lockdown. 42nd Street, which is truly a love song to Broadway itself, is an amazing way to raise the curtain for audiences and actors alike. Chris was last seen at the playhouse in the role of Emile Debeque in South Pacific. Auburn audiences might also have seen him as Fred Graham in Kiss Me Kate, Javert in Les Misérables, Roger Debris in The Producers and coincidentally as Julian Marsh in 42nd Street in 2011. Broadway credits include Mamma Mia!South Pacific and Tarzan. He also played the title role in the off-Broadway production of Johnny Guitar. Welcome back to the theater!  We’ve missed you!

 

 

Ryan Cody (Ensemble) is thrilled to be making his Rev Theatre Company debut! Nick Deapo (Oscar / Doc / Thug) is originally from Liverpool, NY. He holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Nazareth College with minors in Commercial Music and Entertainment Industry. Favorite roles performed include Moritz in Spring Awakening, George in Drowsy Chaperone, Buck in Bonnie and Clyde, Karno in Chaplin and Birdlace in Dogfight. Carlos Encinias* (Bert) is thrilled to be a part of the REV’s return to theatre! He is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico and studied Theatre at BYU. Cynthia Ferrer* (Dorothy Brock) has played leading roles in over one-hundred musicals at major theaters across the country, including four National Tours. She has worked with and performed alongside Garry Marshall, Julia Roberts, Carol Burnett, Courtney Cox, Michael Feinstein, and the Nicholas Brothers. Cynthia appeared as Emily Hobbs at Madison Square Garden in Elf and can be heard on the original cast albums of Happy Day’s: A New Musical and Yankee Doodle Dandy. Film and Television: Ms. Ferrer appeared in Mother’s DayValentine’s DayGeorgia RuleMartial Law, Cougartown, Crossing Jordan, Port Charles, and General Hospital as Dr. Rachael Ryan.

 

 

Jenny Kay Hoffman (Phyllis) is ecstatic to be sharing this story on the east coast after recently completing a run in Southern California. Before the world stopped, Jenny could be found sailing around Europe as a lead soloist on Aida Cruiselines. Aliah James* (Lorraine) is ecstatic to be making her debut at The Rev Theatre performing 42nd Street! Hailing from Atlanta, she attributes her dance training to Point Park University: BFA, Modern Dance. Erin Katzker (Mac) is thrilled to return to the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse stage. She was seen most recently in the REV’s production of Parade (Mrs. Phagan) and in Treasure Island (u/s Mary Hawkins). In addition to performing, Erin serves as The REV’s Educational Theatre Manager, ensuring thousands of students across Central & Western NY receive world class theatre experiences. Erin is originally from Olympia, WA and holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University. “To Josh, Massimo, and Ada: you are my heart.”

 

 

 

Michael Marrero (Ensemble) is from Hamilton, NJ and is a senior acting major at Ithaca College. He is stoked to be able to perform live theatre again and so grateful to be here at The Rev. Special thanks to the cast, creative team, and most importantly his family @mmarrero828

 

 

 

 

Sami Murphy (Ensemble) has been performing worldwide as a dancer vocalist with Royal Caribbean Productions since her high school graduation in 2017. She is also a voice over artist for Fisher- Price’s web series called Mega Bloks™. Sami has performed in numerous productions near her hometown in northern NJ including Legally Blonde: The Musical (Serena), Cats (Bombalurina), and Seussical the Musical (Cat in the Hat). Her notable recent credits include the off-Broadway production of The Little Mermaid at The Players Theatre and Amazon Prime’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel in the upcoming season four.  Sami is beyond thrilled to perform in her first regional theatre production at The Rev! She wants to thank her mom, dad, grandparents, family, friends, church, teachers, and everyone who believed that she could.

 

 

Jane Papageorge* (Anytime Annie) is tickled to be making her Rev debut as Anytime Annie. The So-Cal born UCLA grad has been truly bicoastal between Los Angeles and New York for the last few years. She has performed in HAIR and A Chorus Line at the Hollywood Bowl, appeared on General Hospital, and portrayed Princess Anna in Frozen Live at the Hyperion. Some favorite performances recently include Cabaret at The Gateway Playhouse and 3DTheatricals’ Spamalot. Unending love to her partner CJ Eldred and to you all for supporting live theater. Melissa Perry (Ensemble) is thrilled to be making her Rev Theatre Company debut! Jaclyn Rahmlow (Ensemble) is excited to be making her Rev Theatre debut! Holding a BFA in musical theatre from SUNY Fredonia, select credits include Southern Colorado Rep’s Oklahoma! (Laurey), Prather entertainment’s Crazy for You (Mitzi), and Southern Colorado Rep’s Proof (Claire). Julio Rey* (Billy Lawlor) Julio is so excited to be returning to the Merry-Go-Round stage after a long covid break. He was last seen on this stage in the ensemble of Holiday Inn back in 2018. Julio is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico and has a BFA in Musical Theatre from Penn State University. Some of his favorite theatre credits include Chino in West Side Story at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Last Days of Summer at George Street Playhouse, Slim in Oklahoma! at Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, Valentin in Kiss of the Spiderwoman at Penn State Centre Stage, and many others; you can even catch Julio on an episode in the upcoming season of Dickinson on AppleTV. Ryan Rodiño* (Ensemble, US Billy Lawlor) is overwhelmed with joy to be back on stage. Ryan has traveled the world with A Chorus Line on the US National Tour, Japan Tour, in China’s original company, and worked closely with Antonio Banderas prior to his Spanish-speaking production in Spain. NYC: Christmas on Broadway at the Beacon Theatre. Regional: Ogunquit Playhouse, Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, Gateway Playhouse, Engeman Theatre, Theatre by The Sea, Argyle Theatre. Jonalyn Saxer* (Peggy Sawyer) is thrilled to be back at The Rev after performing in 42nd Street here many years ago! Most recently Jonalyn has appeared as Karen Smith in the Mean Girls National tour, and will be seen in the upcoming West Side Story movie remake, directed by Steven Spielberg. Broadway credits include Mean Girls, Cats, Holiday Inn, Honeymoon in Vegas, and Bullets Over Broadway.  Many thanks to Brett for this incredible opportunity to get back onstage after this truly crazy year, and always being such a huge support. Austin Schulte (Ensemble) is thrilled to be making his debut with The Rev Theatre Company. His most recent roles include Picasso at the Lapin Agile (Schmendiman) and West Side Story (A-Rab). He is going into his senior year at Point Park University to get a BFA in Musical Theatre with a double minor in dance and music. He hopes to become a choreographer someday and loves reading, cooking, and gardening.

Julia Springer (Ensemble) is beyond thrilled to be back on stage in such an iconic masterpiece of musical theatre! This past year has undeniably been trying for all, but it has urged us to not take anything we have for granted. This includes having the opportunity to dance, sing, perform on stage and share stories such as the one you will see today, which especially relatable to those artists who lost their jobs these past 15 months. What a gift it is to be back! Credits include Hamlet the Rock Musical at El Portal Theatre, Curious George at NSMT, Billy Elliot at Seacoast Rep. Theatre, A Christmas Carol at Central Square Theater, The Polar Express at Fillmore, CA to name a few. Christopher Swan (Pat) is so grateful for the return of live theatre and to be making his Rev debut. His last appearance on stage was the premiere of the musical, The Little Match Girl at St. Lukes Theatre in NYC. National tour credits include A Christmas Story: The MusicalR&H CinderellaMy Fair Lady and Guys and Dolls. Regional favorites: Angels in America at Ark Rep, Rabbit Hole at Florida Rep, The Bridges of Madison County at P.O.T.S., and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at TBTS.

 

 

 

Mark Woodard (Abner) could not be happier or more grateful to be returning to live theatre, making his REV Theatre debut in 42nd Street.  This dedicated, talented, and hardworking company provides daily inspiration on why live performance is such an essential part of our cultural growth and expansion.  He sends thanks to Brett for allowing him the honor to be a part of the REV’s 2021 triumphant return to live performance.  Reunion.
