AUBURN, NY (June 14, 2021) – A Syracuse artist, Stephen Carlson, won Best in Show at “Made in NY 2021,” the 25th annual exhibition at the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn, NY. His painting, “Untitled,” shows two chairs on a solid background.

Sharon Draghi of Scarsdale won the Susan E. Spencer Memorial First Prize for her self-portrait photograph “Time Is an Illusion.” And Charles Compo of New York City won Second Prize for his painting “There’s One in Every Crowd.”

The winning pieces were selected by the jurors who picked the artwork for the show: George Afedzi Hughes, an artist and the head of the painting program at the University at Buffalo; Hannah Frieser, executive director of the Center for Photography at Woodstock and former director of Light Work in Syracuse; and Sharon Louden, an artist, educator, and the artistic director of Chautauqua Visual Arts at Chautauqua Institute.

The jurors also chose their own person favorites, who were awarded Juror’s Choice prizes. Three Rochester-area artists were selected:

*          Christina Bang of Pittsford for her sculpture “Green and Yellow”

*          Lee Hoag of Rochester for his sculpture “Pull It Together”
