Connected By Glass | 38th Rakow Commission Unveiling
Event has endedJoin us on November 14 as the 38th Rakow Commission is unveiled with a hybrid presentation in the Museum auditorium and galleries. This year's commission, The Seer, the Seen, the Seeing, represents commission recipient and celebrated contemporary artist Te Rōngō Kirkwood's most personal project to date. Kirkwood activates the material of glass as it is woven and worn by the wearer as a protective cloak, or kakahu. During a live artist talk and conversation with curator Tami Landis, Kirkwood will speak to this work and this distinct moment in her career.
The event will also include the premiere of a short documentary video about the creation of the 38th Rakow Commission.
This event is free and open to the public. No registration is needed to attend the lecture in person at the Museum; registration is required for guests participating virtually.
