FAMILY FALL FUN IN PHELPS:
HARVEST FESTIVAL & HAYRIDES TO GAMES, STORIES, CRAFTS & A “QUILTING BEE”
10:30 AM – 4 PM ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2007

Phelps, NY (October 2, 2007) – Four of our community organizations have come together to provide a day of old fashioned family fun! Some of the activities are ongoing, others have specific times so you can mix and mingle throughout the town! For more information, contact the organizations listed with each activity below!

Q IS FOR QUILT:
10:30 PM – NOON

Bring your child (3 yrs – 3rd grade) to Phelps Community Memorial Library located at 8 Banta St. and have fun with Vicki Emerson‘s hands-on stories and coloring activities. Older children are welcome. FREE. Contact the library at 315.548.3120.

QUILT MOSAICS
NOON-4 PM

Ongoing at the Phelps Arts Center on 15 Church St. – drop in for 30 minutes and create your own Quilt block(s) from paper make it traditional or make it your own unique design. See the Arts & Textile Exhibit featuring new creations from Phelps textile artists before you leave. FREE. Contact the arts center at 315.548.2095.

BATT IT & STITCH IT
NOON-4 PM

Ongoing at the Phelps Historical Society on 66 Main St. – drop in for 30 minutes and learn how to card wool batting and even try your hand at quilt stitching on an old fashioned quilting frame. Look at some of the quilts made long ago which will be out of storage for this one day! Leave ‘em in stitches… that’s what quilters say! FREE. Contact the historical society at 315.548.4940.

SECRETS OF THE QUILTS: (UNDERGROUND RAILROAD)
1 -1:45 PM

Come listen to Idelle Bowles as she tells the story of how quilts and their designs were used to provide hidden clues to markers for escaping southern slaves to find stations and station masters on the Underground Railroad. Phelps Community Memorial Library at 8 Banta St. FREE. Contact the library at 315.548.3120.

HARVEST FESTIVAL
11:00AM-4 PM.

This annual event at the Phelps Community Center at 8 Banta St. is for all ages. Outdoor and indoor games and crafts are a part of the fun. Take a horse drawn hayride through Phelps. Many of the activities are free, and donations are always accepted. Raffles, 50/50 and the fantastic food will be priced accordingly! Contact the community center at 315.548.8484.
