Ontario County, located about 75 miles east of Niagara Falls in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region, is home to five of the eleven Finger Lakes. Among them are two of the largest-Seneca and Canandaigua. Today, the communities that make up Ontario County are known collectively as "Lake Country." Lake Country has an extensive history. Once called the "Mother of Counties," Ontario County was the first and largest settlement in western New York dating back to 1789.
