Cayuga County, which was incorporated 1799, takes its name from one of the five original nations of the Iroquois Federation. Cayuga County's waterways have long provided beauty, recreation, and a path for commerce. Nestled in the heart of the Finger Lakes, the County is bound by water; Lake Ontario to the north, Cayuga Lake to the west, and Skaneateles to the east. With the Erie Canal, Cross Lake, Duck Lake, Owasco Lake, and Lake Como is our midst, we have more fresh water coastline than any county in the State.
Whether your pleasure is relaxing lakeside with a good book, boating, or fishing some of the best undiscovered waters in the northeast—come to Cayuga County and take to the water!
